The standard
What is a SMART Health Link?
A SMART Health Link is a QR code or web link that shares the health information you choose, using an open standard that compatible health systems can read. The code doesn't need to hold your entire medical record. Instead, it carries the information needed to find and unlock an encrypted package that you chose to share.
A healthcare professional scans the code and opens the selected view. If their software accepts FHIR, their staff can bring the data into their own system.

The information is packaged and encrypted.
HealthScores.ai packages your selection as encrypted files using the SMART Health Links standard.

A code carries the way in.
The QR code or link holds the package's address and the key that unlocks it, so the code stays small and your record isn't printed on it.

The care team scans and sees the view.
A phone camera or compatible app opens the link, unlocks the package, and shows the view you selected. Nothing else in your record comes with it.

Protection by design
Secure sharing without asking people to understand the security machinery
The SMART Health Links protocol includes built-in protections. Some choices, such as passcodes, expiration, or long-term updating, depend on how a particular link is configured.
Encrypted every time. The files behind a SMART Health Link are always encrypted, even when the server holding them is trusted.
The key stays in the link. The key that unlocks your information travels inside the link itself, not on the server that stores the package.
Passcodes limit guessing. When a link requires a passcode, the server caps the number of wrong attempts over the life of the link.
Links can expire or stay current. A link can carry an expiration date, or be set up for long-term use so the information behind it can update over time.
